The Kindness Challenge: Small Acts, Big Impact
The Kindness Challenge: Small Acts, Big Impact
Kindness Matters
Have you ever had someone do something kind for you, completely selfless, no strings attached? I'll bet you remember it. I know I do. It's incredible how one small act can lift your spirits and remind you that you're not alone.
Life has a way of throwing curveballs. A sudden job loss, a medical emergency, rent that keeps climbing, the heartbreak of losing a loved one, or even the silent struggles with substance abuse or mental health…these are real challenges that can leave anyone struggling to afford the basics: food, shelter, security.
And that's exactly why kindness matters so much. It's easy to get wrapped up in our own busy schedules, but when we pause and choose kindness, something powerful happens. Not only does it brighten someone else's day, it changes us, too. Research has even shown that one act of kindness a week can reduce loneliness, social isolation, and anxiety, while strengthening community ties. Imagine the ripple effect if we all committed to that.
For the third year in a row, our Spinato's family, together with the Kenneth Anthony Spinato Foundation, is inviting you, our community, our friends, our guests, to join us in spreading kindness throughout the Valley. With the help of our incredible partners, including our Gold Sponsors Greco & Sons and Pepsi, we've created hundreds of Kindness Bags filled with toiletries, snacks, water, socks, and other essentials.
Here's how it works: during the month of September (National Kindness Month!), you can purchase a Kindness Bag at any Spinato's for just $5. Then, when you leave, you decide who receives it. A person on a street corner, someone outside the grocery store, or maybe anyone who could use an extra helping hand. And the best part? 100% of the proceeds go directly to St. Vincent de Paul, an organization that has been serving our Arizona community since 1946.
If you've ever toured their campus like I have, you know their impact is incredible. They provide medical and dental care for the uninsured, hot meals for thousands each day, food boxes for struggling families, a beautiful garden, and hope for people facing homelessness. And sadly, the need keeps growing. According to the 2025 Point-In-Time Count Report from the Maricopa Association of Governments, homelessness in our area increased again this year—especially among veterans and young adults.
At Spinato's, our charitable pillars are kids, veterans, and service animals. Supporting St. Vincent de Paul feels like an extension of those pillars, and it's why The Kindness Challenge means so much to us. Because here's the truth: you don't have to solve the entire homeless crisis to make a difference. You just have to take one step. Share one bag. Offer one smile. Extend one hand. Kindness always matters. It always counts. And it always makes the world a little better than it was yesterday.
So, will you join us this September? Let's make kindness contagious. Together, we can change lives with one small act at a time.
With gratitude,
~Jaime Spinato
