1,000 Eggs, Countless Smiles: Giving Back the Spinato's Way
Our Hearts Are Overflowing—And Not Just With Pizza
Serving our community has always been at the core of who we are. It's what drives us. And today, I want to share a sweet little moment (and no, it's not just about jellybeans) that brought big smiles to our team and even bigger joy to some very deserving kids.
A Slice of Hope: Spinato's + Sojourner Center
Since 1977, Sojourner Center has been a safe haven for individuals and families escaping domestic violence right here in Arizona. With 134 emergency shelter beds and 32 transitional housing units, they help more than 2,000 survivors every year take steps toward a safer, more hopeful future. From their 24/7 crisis hotline to on-site support, their work is nothing short of life-changing.
Domestic violence is a painful reality for far too many—over 42% of women and 33% of men in Arizona will experience it in their lifetime. That's why organizations like Sojourner Center matter so deeply. And it's why we felt moved to show up and support them in any way we could.
Egg-stra Special Joy at Our Scottsdale Location
On April 9th, our Scottsdale team transformed the restaurant into a colorful, candy and toy-filled workshop as we set out to fill 1,000 Easter eggs for the children at Sojourner Center. There was food, laughter, and maybe even a little friendly competition over who could stuff the most eggs the fastest (spoiler: it definitely wasn't me). Having the opportunity to help create happy memories in a difficult time for the children at Sojourner's Center was meaningful to our Spinato's team. It was one of those days that reminded us why our Spinato's family is so special—we lead with our hearts, always.
The Big Delivery Day
On April 19th, we made our egg drop—along with spring craft supplies and a whole lot of love. The kids got to dive into DIY spring wreaths and adorable bunny creations. At the center, the families have their own apartments, with a small kitchenette, bathroom, and bunk beds for the parents and children. We thought it would be fun for them to decorate their front door with a colorful spring wreath. Our team at Spinato's Family Kitchen saved hundreds of egg cartons as materials to make these crafts. It was an explosion of joy, and maybe some paint (washable)—markers, glue, and kids flying everywhere. It was chaotic, creative, and downright magical.
Our Why
At Spinato's, we've always believed our purpose goes way beyond pizza. Sure, we're passionate about serving great food, but our real mission is about making people feel seen, loved, and supported—inside our restaurants and out in the community.
One of the most touching moments was looking around the room and seeing t-shirts that the kids and moms made with words like, "I love you and myself enough to leave," and "I'm strong enough and worth it to not be in a relationship that hurts." I looked around that room and saw strength and love from a community of survivors, stories shared on t-shirts, and the kindness and safety that the Sojourner Center provides for families. It is wonderful to know that we live in a world that cares for the brokenhearted and helps provide steps in a healing journey.
Partnering with Sojourner Center isn't just something we do—it's part of who we are. We're honored to walk alongside them and be a small part of the big, beautiful impact they're making.
With gratitude and pizza love,
Jaime Spinato
