Join us as we commemorate this incredible journey of passion, dedication, and love for food, family, and community. In this blog post, we will look closely at Spinato's remarkable history, the values that have guided its success, and the exciting future ahead. Let's raise a toast to 50 years of Spinato's excellence!
How it all started
Ken and Elain Spinato opened the first Spinato's Pizzeria & Family Kitchen in Scottsdale in 1974 to serve authentic Italian cuisine in an atmosphere all families can enjoy.
Having a humble beginning, opening day brought a grand total of 69 cents from an iced tea. Nowadays, Spinato's Pizzeria & Family has six locations across the valley, in not only Scottsdale but also Phoenix, Ahwatukee, Tempe, and Gilbert.
Fifty years later, Spinato's is now known as the "Official Pizza" of the Phoenix Suns and Phoenix Mercury, and you can even find fresh slices served during their games at the Footprint Center in downtown Phoenix.
Rooted in Family Traditions
Spinato's CEO, Anthony Spinato, and his sister, Nicole Spinato-Kienlen, started working as teenagers in the family business. Their spouses, Jaime and Chris, also play important roles in the company. Ken Spinato, the family patriarch, is still involved in visiting restaurants and providing feedback. In 2018, the corporate headquarters moved to a larger location in Tempe, and a new restaurant was opened near Tempe Marketplace in 2019.
Giving Back to the Community by Staying Golden
Spinato's will introduce new menu items this month to celebrate its Golden Anniversary. One new option is a keto crust made from chicken. The bar menu will now feature local-only breweries, except for bottled beer.
A new 50th Anniversary pizza called the "Stay Golden Pizza" will also be available. Proceeds from this pizza will benefit Magicians on Mission, a nonprofit that supports deployed American service members. This pizza features a fig and roasted red pepper base with various toppings and is available for dine-in only. Prices on the "Stay Golden Pizza" are:
Gluten-free - $20
Small - $25
Large - $50

We've incorporated a new chicken crust for our customers.
If you want to make your cheese or vegetarian pizza vegan, ask us about the pourable vegan mozzarella cheese we now offer!
Celebrating 50 Years Through Ink
Our Original Tempe Location on Smith Road is now home to Sentient Tattoo Collective. As an homage to our 50th anniversary, they've created 22 original and unique Spinato's Spinato-inspired tattoos in coordination with another local artist. Available throughout 2024, any guest inked with one of these unique designs will receive a card for 50% off dine-in orders at any of our locations until the end of 2024.
Sentient Tattoo Collective's fees vary by tattoo size and flash design. The studio is open seven days a week, and while walk-ins are welcome, Sentient recommends texting ahead to 480-382-9219. To learn more, visit www.sentienttattoocollective.com or follow them at @sentienttattoo.
