One of our cherished fundamentals is serving outside our walls. That's why when KMLE Country 107.9 approached us with their Pie It Forward campaign, we were all in.

Here's the beautiful idea: KMLE fans nominate a deserving military member or first responder for a surprise Spinato's pizza party. Then, the person who received the gift gets to "pie it forward" by choosing the next deserving hero. It's a ripple effect of gratitude, fueled by generosity and cheesy goodness.

To us, it's more than pizza—it's about making someone's day a little brighter. And it reminded me of a time when I was on the receiving end of that kind of kindness. When I had my first baby at 30, I had no idea what I was in for. Labor kicked in at 11 pm and didn't let up until our sweet baby arrived at 6:40 am. Exhausted and overwhelmed, Anthony and I brought our baby home to our little condo, completely sleep-deprived and stunned by the weight of our new responsibilities. Cooking? Forget it. The idea of preparing a meal was just...too much.

That's when we were given one of the greatest gifts. Every day for the next seven days, a different family—some of whom we barely knew—showed up with a hot meal. I don't even think they realized the impact they had. Fifteen years later, I still think about those meals. They weren't just food—they were love, support, and relief. They were proof that someone saw us, cared about us, and showed up for us. Now, I am making an effort to try to do the same thing for new families—show up with a hot meal and, in essence, Pie It Forward.

That's exactly what it's all about! It's more than just honoring our military and first responders (which we proudly do!)—it's about reminding people that someone out there sees them, and that they matter. And that kindness always has a way of circling back.

So, whether you're a KMLE listener nominating your favorite hometown hero or you're the next in line paying it forward, thank you. You're part of something that matters.
